Holy Trinity Church Zoning Atlas Amendment & Traffic Impact
Holy Trinity Anglican Church is seeking to rezone 15.5 acres at 1651 Old Lystra Road to build a new place of worship and partner with Pee Wee Homes to provide up to ten tiny homes for individuals experiencing homelessness. While supporters praise the church's commitment to serving those earning below 30% of the area median income, neighbors have raised serious concerns about traffic safety, narrow roads, stormwater runoff, and loss of tree canopy.
Unified Development Ordinance Subdivision Amendments
The county commissioners denied 4-3 the subdivision administration amendments this board had recommended unanimously in July, saying they want to wait until after the land use plan retreat and community engagement. Discretionary standards work is on pause as a result.
Data Center Land Use Moratorium
The county is looking closely at how massive data centers driven by AI will impact local electricity, water supplies, and residential utility bills. Commissioners voted to study potential guardrails, including zoning rules and temporary moratoria.
